August 2011 |

Location update...
We
are settling in beautifully to our new
space in Calgary and are continuing to
undergo upgrading. We are
outfitting our wholesale showroom
upstairs so that retailers may have a
private space to do some shopping and
product discussion. This means that once
that's complete, we'll begin organizing
our wee little retail space on the main
level! Just in time for the holiday
season you'll be able to stop by, enjoy
a cup of tea while you browse and shop
everything we have to offer, and more.
Because we're now sharing a space with
Rae Dunphy Aromatics, you'll be able to
purchase all of your All Things Jill
faves, along with the highest quality
essential oils, carrier oils, butters,
hydrosols, and skin care anywhere in
Canada. This really is exciting for all
of us here, as it means a deeper
connection to you, or invaluable clients
for whom we do this work!
Stay tuned for more updates and pics in
the coming months!

S p e a r m i n t
Mentha spicata
A
hardy branched perennial herb with bright green,
lance shaped, sharply serrated leaves, Spearmint
essential oil is obtained by steam distillation
of the leaves and flowering tops.
Spearmint oil is first and foremost considered
the more gentle version of Peppermint oil,
suitable for use with children and others who
may find peppermint too strong.
Spearmint oil is sweeter than peppermint -
peppermint will have an immediate strong aroma
of menthol, whereas spearmint will have a sweet
quality at the same time. Botanists consider
peppermint to be a hybrid of spearmint and
'water' mint - an even sharper cousin in the
mint family.
Spearmint is valued all over the world as a
culinary herb and was used by the Greeks as a
restorative and to scent their bathwater. Native
to the Mediterranean region, spearmint is now
common throughout Europe, western Asia and the
Middle East. It was introduced to the Americas
where it has become a very popular flavouring.
Check out our fabulous selection of Aegean Mint
bath + body products - this blend begins
with an organic Spearmint Essential Oil, blended
with Lemon, Peppermint and Rosemary. Sure to
uplift and balance your mood!

We don't normally share testimonials in our
newsletter, however this one arrived two
weeks ago and made everyone here smile. This
is the reason why we do what we do, why I've
created the products that I have. To both be
in service and engage my creativity in a
positive, rewarding way is, for me, the
makings of a fantastic life of work.
Thanks to a fellow Jill, below, for making
our week and for sharing such a lovely
review (and picture!) with us.
Just
have to write and tell you how amazing the
baby line is. When I was pregnant and on
bed rest I was desperately looking for
something a lot healthier to put on my baby
than the nasty typical baby products that
you can buy at big box stores. Thinking of
putting anything on my baby was daunting and
then I found you on Safecosmetics.org. I
went to Community Natural Foods and they had
your entire line and I scooped it up right
away! From day one, my little girl has been
using the products and we LOVE every one of
them. The shampoo? Fabulous. The bum
balm? Cured her cradle cap as well! The
diaper spray? LOVE that I don't have to use
the nasty disposable wipes. But by far, the
best is the lotion. Oh my goodness.
My mom is skeptical of anything she
considers "green". I'm fairly sure she
considers me a radical hippie for not
wanting to use "Johnson and Johnsons" like
the rest of the world. She made comments
when she saw all of your line along the
likes of "well, you'll find out that THIS
stuff probably won't work in your own
time." However, she used it faithfully when
she was at our house as we had banned
anything else. Then our daughter went to
her house. And she used the nasty stuff on
her. Bria got a rash, smelled so awful and
chemically, and we had to give her a bath
again that night when she got home just to
get our baby back to smelling normal! I
quickly went over, commandeered the icky
products and replaced them with yours. A
few weeks later, we were giving her a bath
at my Mom's house again and my Mom pulled
out the Peas in a Pod shampoo and lotion.
The shampoo was still almost full (Bria
hadn't been over to bathe that much) but the
lotion was half gone already!!! I asked her
what happened and she sheepishly said that
she'd been using it! She loved the smell
and how light it was! AND she loved how it
didn't make her feel like she had a coating
on! HA! Caught in the act!
Please, oh please, keep making this line for
a VERY long time! We love it to bits!

PS - attaching a picture of her changing
station so you can see I really do use all
of it!!! |
