EO/Herb of the
Month:
C I T R O N E L L A
(Cymbopogon
nardusloe)

The main essential oil in our Bug Joose!, Citronella was
one of the world's dominant insect repellents before the
introduction of DDT. Recent history has indicated that
Citronella is once again becoming the product of choice
for health conscious customers!
The oil of the Citronella plant is extracted from a
resilient grass native to Sri Lanka and Java. It is a
very aromatic perennial that grows approximately 1 meter
(3 feet) in height.
Citronella is credited with having therapeutic
properties as an antiseptic, deodorant, insecticide,
parasitic, tonic and as a stimulant. Nonetheless, most
people will associate it with its insecticide
properties. Many commercial repellents contain
Citronella, and it is often used in combination with
Cedarwood to produce a pleasant smelling natural insect
repellent.
This fantastic oil can also help with minor infection,
but is more commonly known for its ability to assist in
combating colds and flu. Citronella can also be used for
excessive perspiration and for conditioning oily skin
and hair.

U G J O O S E !
While
we're on the subject of citronella and getting rid of pesky outdoor
critters, look no further. Our
popular (DEET free) Bug Joose! is
made with a combination of pure essential
oils known to repel bugs in a witch hazel base. It does not come in a pressurized container or
contain any chemical repellents, making it safe for the environment.
Bug Joose! is
pure and non-greasy so it won't leave your skin feeling sticky like
the commercial brands. For those of you with little ones, we
recommend spraying baby's clothing and stroller/carrier rather than
applying directly. Children over 12 months and seniors can use the
product safely on their skin.
All Things Jill is thrilled to be providing Bug Joose!
and other fantastic personal care products to the
artists of the
2007 Calgary Folk Festival!

Notes from the Soaperie
While I'm sure that many of you are busy into your
summer vacations and relaxing, we here at All Things
Jill are trying to balance work and play for the month
of July. Having managed one golf game, a few yoga
classes and a couple of days of relaxing with a cold
beverage in the back yard this month, both Tim and I are
experiencing the pangs of guilt that come with being
self-employed and taking a break from work.
There's always lots to be done, and as long as we all
remember that the work will be there tomorrow, I
say relax while you can!
That being said, we're pretty excited about the upcoming
Calgary Folk Festival at the end of July. For the
second year in a row, the performing artists and some of
the backstage crew will be receiving All Things Jill
gift baskets and products. Most will receive our
Bug Joose! and Ultimate Lip Balm, as well as some After
Sunny Spray and a couple of other goodies, to help make
their stay and play in Calgary that much more enjoyable.
We hope you make the most of your summer and the
precious time made available for fun with friends and
family. As for us, Tim will be sparking up the Bar-B-Q
shortly and we'll finish off the day relaxing out back
and no doubt discussing work!
See you in August,

Taking a break - golfing in Whistler!
Jill's Picks:
Country Maples Resort
Two
summers ago Tim and I took a camping road trip to
Vancouver Island for a family reunion in Ladysmith,
BC. While there, we stayed at the Country Maples RV
Resort in Chemainus and I have to say, it was a
fantastic place to camp!
With 160 sites and some great amenities (mini golf
and a heated pool, to start!), you can't go wrong with
the tenting price of $34/night. It's clean, secluded and
a great getaway, whether you're just a twosome or if
you've got kids with you.
