EO/Herb of the
Month:
Patchouli
(Pogostemon
cablin)
Patchouli is a very fragrant
herb with soft oval leaves and square stems. It grows
from 2 to 3 feet in height and provides an unusual odor
that is nonetheless characteristic of patchouli when the
leaves are rubbed.
Patchouli is recognized by aromatherapists as being
effective for combating nervous disorders, is excellent
for general skin care, dermatitis, dandruff, athletes'
foot, eczema, acne and sores.
You can find Patchouli Oil in our Best-Selling
Hard Workin' Hands Salve.
Feature Product:
Body Scrubs
Overexposure to either heat or
cold can cause the skin
on your body to become dry, scaly, flaky and itchy. Our
skin is composed of multiple layers, each with its own
specific task. The outer layer, or dead zone, has the
debris of days gone by. Showers and baths clean away
surface grime, but the dead zone remains as a rough,
flaky layer. This layer must be removed with an abrasive
material - usually a scrub, polish or glow.
Scrubs (sometimes called Polishes) can be used as little as once a week,
although ours is gentle enough to use as often as you
desire over your entire body or just for smoothing
target rough spots - elbows, knees and feet. This polish
is designed to Exfoliate, Nourish, and Hydrate your
skin.

Notes from the Soaperie
Fall is upon us again, and yes I can hear your groans
from Halifax to Tofino. Fear not! Autumn is the most
wonderful of seasons filled with gathering, preparation
& contemplation.
We gather the fruits of our labours and our families and
friends to celebrate our summer of success. We prepare
our families and world for the coming winter slumber so
that we can be ready to launch into spring filled with
purpose and vigor. We take time to contemplate our
accomplishments and plan for coming successes and
triumphs.
The world around us is also going through the same
metamorphoses; the trees are shedding their leaves and
beginning to conserve their energies for the winter
ahead. Animals are preparing their caches of
seeds & nuts to see them through to spring. l
believe that the earth itself also contemplates its
summer and prepares to meet the challenge of the coming
months.
I remember a childhood spent jumping into piles of
leaves, pumpkin carving, and harvesting vegetables from
our garden to be enjoyed all winter long. Rejoice and
enjoy: a new season is upon us. Go out and
drink it in; the next time you're raking, take a moment
to play - jump in those leaves. It
will do wonders for your sprit.
Namaste,
